Hi, I’m Danielle Wright, CEO of Right Choice Construction, and I’m taking a moment to observe National Military Appreciation Month as well as Memorial Day, which is upcoming on May 27th—the last Monday of the month
Memorial Day traditionally marks the first unofficial day of summer. But as we approach the long Memorial Day weekend, it’s important to remember why this Federal holiday takes place in America. Memorial Day is all about honoring and remembering the U.S. military personnel who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

How can we participate in Memorial Day? Well, many events mark this special holiday.
Carry The Load’s Memorial May Campaign – Houston occurs on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. CT at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive.
The National Memorial Day Concert, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, will be broadcast live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on Sunday, May 26, 2024, starting at 8 p.m. ET, hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise. You can watch it live-streamed on PBS.
The National Memorial Day Parade will occur on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C., on Monday, May 27, 2024, starting at 2 p.m. The parade will be broadcast live, followed by a televised program, Our Sacred Honor: An American Salute, airing on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and CW stations nationwide.
For Legacy and Heritage
When I think of all of my ancestors who fought and served throughout the decades in various branches of the military, I’m struck by their bravery and sacrifice. They died too young, leaving behind their families and loved ones. Every year, I keep their memory alive, whether they served in WWI, WWII, or more recent wars. Because of them, we live in our amazing nation—the land of the free and the home of the brave.
