As Vice Chair, what an honor to welcome famed businessman Mattress Mack of Gallery Furniture and spend time with one of my favorite people. His attendance at the most recent Katy Area Economic Development Council General Assembly Meeting was much appreciated.
We networked from 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and enjoyed caroling from the Katy ISD Paetow High School Choir, directed by Sara O. Proodian, Director of Choral Activities, Paetow High School, TMEA, TMMA, TCDA, TCTA, T4PE.

To know Jim McIngvale is to love him. He’s such an iconic figure locally and regionally and is famous for his service and generosity to the Houston community.

McIngvale is known for owning and operating the Gallery Furniture retail chain, based in Houston, Texas where his energetic, fast-paced sales pitches, typically ending with some variant of his catchphrase “saves you money!” Also, he is known for his great support and love of the Houston Astros. McIngvale wears many hats, but is probably most recognized as a philanthropist as he generously gives back to the community in the Greater Houston Area.” – KAEDC
The Inspirational Message
Mattress Mack’s featured presentation was phenomenal! December 4 was a great holiday event at Embassy Suites by Hilton Houston West (the venue and breakfast sponsor), with colleagues and the business community soaking up his message.
He spoke about the value of our rights and freedoms. He reminded us that our customers are our business and our business is our customers. He also stated that our greatest desire should be to work and that too many people don’t want to work.
The audience was energized and inspired about the personal and professional values we should all be cultivating on a daily basis.
