This week we spent some time reflecting on how Right Choice Construction embraces safety practices and protocol in commercial construction, but if you’re wondering what the utmost important quality is when it comes to safety in commercial construction, it’s embracing and nurturing a culture of safety in the workplace.
While maintaining a culture of safety involves practices we’ve recently outlined (safety meetings, protocols, inspections), this means nothing without a serious and mindful attitude coming from all staff and players in the game. At Right Choice Construction, this means placing this culture of safety at the apex from day one, as soon as a new staff member starts their time with us.
So what can embracing this type of culture look like? It may look like:
- Staff members taking full responsibility in trainings and on-site safety conversations and staying attentive throughout
- Supervisors and superintendents leaving no stone unturned when it comes to observations and inspections
- Having direct conversations: safety involves everyone’s wellbeing, so superintendents should be prepared to have candid and learning-centered conversations with all involved staff
